Pip and your privacy
Pip is the small AI guide on this site. It uses what you explore here to offer relevant help.
What it remembers
Visit timestamps, active time on each page and section, reading progress, project and résumé clicks, suggestions shown or dismissed, and recent questions and short answers. Activity is approximate. Time in hidden tabs is not counted.
A signed browser cookie keeps your visits together. A one-way keyed hash of your IP helps count network visits and limit abuse. Raw IP addresses are not saved in Pip’s database or sent to OpenAI. People on the same network do not share chat histories.
How AI uses it
When you ask a question or Pip offers a suggestion, a bounded summary of this activity, recent conversation, and public portfolio content is sent to OpenAI. Pip does not record form keystrokes, passwords, pointer trails, or activity on other sites. Don’t share sensitive information in chat.
Your choices
Open Pip and choose “Forget my visits” to remove the saved activity for this browser and turn off future visit memory. The current page context can still be used to answer questions. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected for persistent memory. A popup’s × button dismisses it and delays the next suggestion.
Activity and saved conversation expire after 30 days. API abuse counters have separate short retention periods. OpenAI requests use store: false; OpenAI’s own processing and retention policies still apply.
